At the annual Rector’s Awards ceremony held on 5 October 2023, Stellenbosch University celebrated the outstanding achievements of over 70 students in various fields, including academics, sports, culture, social impact, and co-curricular activities. Notably, top engineering students were among the recipients of these prestigious awards.
JPK Faure, an MEng (Industrial) student, was recognized with the Rector’s Award for being the top master’s student in the Faculty of Engineering in 2022, achieving an impressive average of 93%.
In the academic category, six BEng students stood out for their exceptional performance, graduating with honours in 2022. These outstanding individuals are Jean van der Walt (Electric and Electronic), Tian Cilliers (Mechatronic), Nicolaas Visser (Electric and Electronic), Danie Theron (Civil), Siphiwe Phetla (Electric and Electronic), and Jacques Wust (Electric and Electronic).
Stanley Msiska, a PhD student in the field of chemical engineering, received an award for his contributions in the category of Social Impact.
